When the Day Is Over

by Annette Wynne

When the day is over, Mother comes and says "good-night"
Very low and then puts out the light;
And God who sees the whole world go to sleep,
Says softly to us all when shadows creep,
"My tired children, now, good-night"—
And then comes dark, for God puts out the light.
