The Guiding Star

by ENS

Star of the east arise and shine
On this benighted soul of mine;
And lead me from the haunts of men,
To view the child of Bethelehem.

Let me adore the heavenly babe,
Tho in a manger lowly laid;
And own Him as my Saviour Lord,
The Son of the eternal God.

What grateful off ring can I bring
To lay before the eternal King?
More sweet than incense can impart
Is an obedient contrite heart.

Oh may the day spring from on high
Dart through my soul his quick'ning ray,
And make my heart a saerifiee,
Accepted in my Saviour's eyes.

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

– Psalm 51:17
KJV
