My Soul

by Richard Lynott O'Malley

As the sunshine feeds the flower
And smiles it into beauty,
So did childhood's fire empower
My soul with love and duty.

As the mountain oak is marred,
All knotted by the storm,
So my soul by sin is scarred
And twisted out of form.
