Love Is All

by Ruby Archer

Would you be a monarch
Worshipped on a throne,
With no hand to clasp your own?
No—for love is all.

Would you be a Midas,
Opulent of gold,
Only paltry dross to hold?
No—for love is all.

Would you be a peasant,
Laboring through life,
With your dearest for your wife?
Yes—for love is all.
