That flower of the heart,
Of dreams and rapture redolent,
Nor far from tears apart?
That blossom born of earth?
What miracle 'twould be!
I dare imagine other birth—
Behold my theory:
A jasmine flower of heaven
Came down the Milky Way;
And finding here such piteous need,
Thought merciful to stay.
